Whats it all about?
Satellite TV is a means by which most people with a television use in order to receive and watch the television programs that are currently available. It is programming through the means of satellites orbiting the earth and sending feed to houses all around the world. Most of the time a satellite TV is powered by a satellite dish which is attached to the house and used to communicate with the satellite in space. This synchronization is what brings the television programs to the screen. Other televisions have a set-top box or a satellite tuner already implement into the TV. With the advancement of computers and modern technology, direct-broadcast satellite televisions are now becoming the next big thing. It used to be that one could get either analogue or digital televisions, but now that analogue is being used less and less digital television is the way of the future thanks to the popularity of HD television.
There are three different ways that satellite TV is being used all around:
– Direct broadcast via satellite
– Television receive-only
– Direct to Home Television
All three ways manage to deliver the same great content to any home, but they vary based on price and on how often an individual or a family watches television throughout the day. Direct broadcast is all about the communication between the two satellites. Its the mini-dish system that is very popular within many households across America. These DBS satellites use DVB-S standards for transmitting television shows. It makes it so that the data required for watching the shows is encrypted and unwatchable unless the satellite TV dish is implemented. With television receive-only (TVRO) the signal is sent out the cable television networks first before being sent out to the various homes looking to watch those shows. Its a very old style of satellite TV that typically is no longer being used due to the advances of digital television. Direct to Home is simply that. The satellite goes right from space and sends the transmission directly into the television. It makes for a faster television program service that continues to be used and will most likely be expanded upon in future programming.
At the moment satellite still control when and how we watch television, but there is currently work being done in order to create a newer, better means with which to send programs to houses all over the world without the need to satellites. Its a tall order, but if it is successful it will save a ton of money on satellite repairs. At the moment the future of satellite TV looks ready to evolve.
